Some offenses are violations of Federal law as opposed to state or local law. Records of these crimes are located in the US District Courts. Each state has at least one US District Court, while others are divided into as many as four districts. Some offenses can include kidnapping, drug trafficking, interstate transportation of stolen goods, bank robbery and embezzlement.
Encompassed with the Federal Criminal 1 Search are the following: Federal Criminal, Sex Offender (Nationwide).
- Federal Criminal will search Federal judicial records and report back on criminal records from Federal jurisdictions. Federal violations generally will not appear in either a county or statewide criminal check.
CBSP is committed to providing Federal Criminal results in less than 72 hours. Because some courts allow electronic access, we typically return those results within 24 hours. However, most courts require that we go directly to the court, and depending on volume, court location, filing procedures, etc., time service will vary. Approximately 90% of all work is returned within 72 hours. Be aware that some of the search requests will go beyond 72 hours due to archived records, restricted public access, court closures, inclement weather, and other circumstances beyond our control.
- Sex Offender (Nationwide) A search of a specific state's live repository. Details in the report usually include: identifiers, registered address, aliases, case numbers, charge(s), conviction details and period of incarceration. You will get information from 49 states including Washington, D.C., Guam and Puerto Rico. These records contain photos from States where this is allowed by statute.
